Last March I wrote about my desperate search for cinnamon chips so that I could make these scones for my hubby... who has a minor obsession with cinnamon. And by minor obsession I mean that there is never enough cinnamon in anything... applesauce, apple pie, pumpkin pie, cinnamon buns...
Anyway, I never found the cinnamon chips... I was told that they were a "seasonal" item and that they got them in the fall and once they were gone, they were gone. So, the beginning of September I started scouting the local grocery stores for the elusive cinnamon chips. Sunday afternoon the phone rang and it was my sister, Bin calling to say that she was standing in the Grand Union right in front of a shelf of cinnamon chips! Woo hoo! The next words out of her mouth were, "How many bags do you want? I'll bring them to you on Tuesday." I told her to bring me four bags...
My thought process at the time was, "Don't go overboard. They're $3+ a bag and what if we don't like them." What was I thinking? My husband cannot ever get enough cinnamon, why on earth wouldn't he like them? I should have bought a case! Big thanks to Bin for buying, delivering and not letting me pay for the chips!
Today I wanted to make those scones but I didn't have heavy cream... honestly, I never have heavy cream. So I hunted around on the internet until I found an almost identical recipe with ingredients that I had on hand. And, oh my... talk about delicious... soooo good.
And was there enough cinnamon? Hubby says, "Gettin' there!"
Thanks for dropping by....
